WOODBURY, GA — A Woodbury, Georgia woman was killed over the weekend in a single-vehicle accident on a rural Talbot County roadway.

According to the coroner, 30-year-old Chirmane Johnson was driving on Rising Sun Road around midnight Saturday. When she attempted to make a turn, she allegedly lost control of the car. The coroner says the car went through the woods and eventually hit a tree. The car burst into flames and the coroner says the woman was burned beyond recognition.

A male passenger in the car was also burned, but not severely. He was taken to the Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities believe speed was a factor in the crash.

The wreck remains under investigation by Georgia State Patrol.
