The U.S. Department of Labor serves as the guardian for workers nationwide. As per the Wage and Hour Division within the department, employees in every state may have unpaid wages owed by their employers.

In the state of Georgia alone, the USDOL reported that over 7,000 individuals were collectively owed in excess of $2.2 million. Among the Georgia cities listed, Atlanta, with the highest count of workers owed back wages, also had the greatest total dollar amount owed to the affected workers. Although Atlanta claimed the title for the Georgia city with the highest amount of owed wages, it wasn’t the place with the largest number of workers expecting compensation.
