A 16-year-old accused of killing of his 13-year-old brother has made his first appearance in court Saturday.

Channel 2’s Amanda Cook was there as Oscar Mondragon, 16, made his first court appearance in Cobb County Court.

Police said they found Oscar Mondragon hiding in a trailer Friday night at the Edengate Mobile Home Park in the 200 block of Clay Drive in Marietta.

Police said they were called to Marietta’s Eastside Mobile Home Park after a shooting Thursday night. When officers arrived, they found Javier Mondragon dead.

Friends identified the victim as Oscar Mondragon’s younger brother. They described the elder Mondragon as a troublemaker, who fought with his stepfather and had been arrested in the past.

Mondragon faces charges of felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a minor. In court Saturday morning, Cook said the judge read Mondragon the charges against him, and he told the judge he understood them. Another court appearance has been scheduled for June 28.

Mondragon has been charged as an adult and is currently being held at the Marietta Youth Detention Center.
