A strong line of storms knocked out power to thousands across metro Atlanta on Wednesday evening.

As of 11 p.m. Wednesday, Georgia Power said 150,000 customers were without power statewide.

Channel 2 has received numerous reports of downed trees and power lines in several neighborhoods.

A tree fell on a house in the 3000 block of Dowry Drive in Lawrenceville, said Gwinnett Fire-Rescue spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge.

Rutledge said firefighters have been busy responding to a host of storm-related incidents.

“Wires down, vehicle accidents, alarm calls and trees down,” he wrote in an email to Channel 2.

In Cobb County, firefighters battled a fire in the 3300 block of Post Oak. Investigators said lighting sparked a fire in the garage.

Police were also called to the intersection of N. Marietta Pkwy and Fairground in Marietta. Channel 2 photographer Casey Nichols said stop lights were out at the intersection after storms rolled through Cobb. Nichols said one person was taken away by ambulance.
