Investigators are hoping surveillance video will show the people responsible for an attempted smash-and-grab at a Clayton County pawn shop Saturday morning, leaving thousands of dollars of damage done to the store.

Police said they were called out the King Pawn store on Riverdale Road at about 5 a.m. when an alarm started going off.

When they got there, investigators said they found a black four-door Honda Accord in the middle of the front of the store.

Channel 2’s Mike Petchenik got to the store just as the car was being placed on a flatbed. Police told Petchenik that car was going to an impound lot for further investigation.

The store’s owner told Petchenik whoever is responsible for the incident, caused about $4,000-5,000 worth of damage to the building.

Investigators told Petchenik they don’t believe the suspects got away with anything.

Detectives said the store has surveillance video and are hoping that will give them a good idea of who they are looking for.
