“Some of the storms could be strong to severe,” Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
Metro Atlanta was under a severe weather thunderstorm watch early Wednesday, but it was lifted around 10 a.m. During the morning, thunderstorms hit extreme north Georgia, bringing lightning and strong winds.
I want you to be prepared for the possibility of more of these storms moving through the area today, Minton said.
More thunderstorms are expected as the temperature warms up in the afternoon.
I expect some of those storms to be strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail being the main threat, Severe Weather Team 2 meteorologist David Chandley said.
Wednesday’s high temperatures will be in the low 80s, with west winds between 10-15 mph. Chandley said showers and thunderstorms that develop on Wednesday will linger into Thursday.
Then well see much better weather into the holiday weekend, Minton said.
