Firefighters said one person was entrapped in a truck under the bridge on Marietta and Bolton roads after a partial collapse.
Channel 2’s Jeff Dore reported a waste management truck struck the bridge, bringing a concrete facing down. News Chopper 2 flew over the scene as firefighters worked to remove the driver from the wreckage. Atlanta Fire Capt. Jolyon Bundridge told Dore another person was transported to the hospital.
Bolton Road, south of Marietta Road, was shut down while crews worked to clear the scene. Channel 2’s Mark Arum suggested using Moors Mill Road as an alternate to Bolton Road, which is a major connection between Smyrna and northwest Atlanta.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the rail company is responsible for inspections.
