Police said teenagers on a joyride slammed a car into a house early Friday morning.

Authorities said they were able to catch the 14-year-old driver after the crash on Singer Way in DeKalb County.

The woman who lives next door to the crash scene told Channel 2 Action News reporter Darryn Moore that the teens drove through her driveway and barely missed her house. But they didn’t miss her neighbor’s house, and the teens crashed through the side of it.

“It sounded like a big explosion. It was a solid boom,” said the neighbor, who did not want to be identified.

Half of the car went through the laundry room of the home just after 1 a.m.

“I looked out the window and saw (the teens) running from the side of the house and down the street,” said the neighbor.

Witnesses said a 14-year-old was behind the wheel and he had two friends riding with him.

“He had stolen his mom’s car and came out with his friends and this is what happened,” said the neighbor.

Firefighters had to cut and pull the siding of the house away to get the car out.

Fire officials were able to shore up the house and the homeowners were able to go back inside.

The 14-year-old was placed in juvenile detention.

No injuries were reported.
