The City of Calera Police Department arrested Mitchell and Heard after they said the two robbed the Waffle House location in Calera.
Police said Mitchell and Heard were responsible for 18 Waffle House burglaries over the last 2 weeks between Alabama and Georgia, 16 of which were in the Atlanta metro area.
In all cases the restaurants were robbed overnight, between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Police said, in some cases, Mitchell and Heard ordered food, ate and paid for the meal before holding up the cashier and fleeing on foot with the stolen money.Norcross police said in many of the cases, Mitchell and Heard parked across the street and walked to the Waffle Houses, hiding their car from security.
Mitchell and Heard are now being held in the Shelby County Jail in Alabama.
