CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — Clayton County Police searched a south Metro hotel for suspects after a double shooting on an interstate ramp, but came up empty handed early Thursday.

Authorities told Channel 2’s Darryn Moore two people were shot near the ramp to Interstate 75 and Tara Boulevard just before 4 a.m. The driver of an Acura pulled up alongside two people riding inside a Mustang and opened fire, according to police.

Double Shooting On Interstate Ramp

Police said they later found the Acura, believed to belong to the shooter, just a few miles away crashed on the ramp from Interstate 75 to Forest Parkway. Officers told Moore they found blood inside the Acura but they were not sure if that blood was related to the crash.

Officers had surrounded an Econo Lodge on Frontage Road where they believed the shooter may be hiding. Moore said a K-9 unit tracked a scent from the Acura to the hotel, but once police obtained a warrant they did not find the shooter inside.

Moore said police had not released the conditions of the victims, or a potential motive for the shooting.

Clayton County police Sgt. Otis Willis said police detained two people after the shooting. He said they were being interviewed at police headquarters.
