The victim, identified as Derek Moses, had multiple gunshot wounds to the head, Atlanta police investigators said.
A co-worker made the discovery at Moses financial services office in the 2000 block of Cascade Road shortly before 10 a.m. Monday. Moses served as an associate pastor at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in southwest Atlanta.
“Everyone’s in a state of shock as to what happened and how it happened,” Providence Missionary’s the Rev. Gerald Durley told Channel 2s Eric Philips.
Police said Moses blue BMW was found on Montreat Avenue, nearly two miles away from his office.
A woman who lives next door to the victim’s office said his death was shocking.
“At first I thought it was a break-in until I saw them put the yellow tape up,” said Sandra Davis.
Atlanta police said they have no reason to think there was a robbery. They said there were no signs of forced entry and Moses still had his valuables on him.
Police told Channel 2s Tom Jones that Moses likely knew the gunman. An Atlanta police representative told Jones that officers have some things theyre working on but didnt elaborate further.
