ATLANTA — The parents of a child found dead at a hotel in Buckhead have been charged with murder.
Parents Accused Of Killing 5-Month-Old
Atlanta police received a call about the death from the Embassy Suites hotel on Peachtree Road late Sunday night. Channel 2 Action News was at the scene as detectives filed in and out of the hotel into the early-morning hours.
The parents were not charged while police determined the cause of death, then, the Fulton County Medical ExaminerÂ’s Office determined that 5-month-old Chase Mayers died of blunt force trauma to the torso.
On Wednesday, Akbar Cojoe, 40, and Shauna Mayers, 27, were charged with first-degree cruelty to children, in addition to felony murder. They are scheduled for an 11 a.m. first appearance at the Fulton County Jail.
