MADISON, Ga. — Police said they were investigating what lead to an officer-involved shooting in Morgan County.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a trooper shot Horace Parks Saturday who was believed to be involved in a shooting earlier in the day in Madison.
Troopers said they had been looking for Parks since the earlier shooting and located him at about 8 p.m. driving in his car.
Investigators said Parks gave chase and rammed a local police cruiser with his car in the process.
When the chase ended, troopers said Parks got out of his car, pointed a gun at them and that’s when they opened fire.
Parks was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators. The GBI said no officers were harmed in the shooting.
The GBI is investigating the shooting.
