PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. — More than $20,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from an Apple Computer store, Peachtree City police said.Thieves stole the items from the PeachMac store at The Avenues Shopping Center in Peachtree City around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Peachtree City police representative Michelle Ward said in a news release.

Ward said thieves crashed through the front door and stole numerous computers and computer parts. Surveillance video showed three men in the store. Ward said a nearby officer on patrol spotted the group as they were leaving the shopping center in two cars.

The officer then chased the thieves near Highway 54 and Stevens Entry, but it became too dangerous, Ward said.“Due to the suspect driving recklessly, at a high rate of speed and with complete disregard for the safety of others, the pursuit was terminated,” Ward said.PeachMac and Peachtree police are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the thieves.
