Two men were hospitalized after a shooting and car crash early Monday, Atlanta police said.

An evening spent at a nightclub on Moreland Avenue ended at the Grady Hospital emergency room for the victims, police said. They said two men were dropping off their friend at his house on Akron Drive in southeast Atlanta when they were attacked.

As the third man got out of the car, two armed man approached the group to rob them, police said. The third man ran away and the robbers started shooting at the remaining men in the car.

“Two people in the car, one was shot in the leg. One was shot in the back of the neck, but it was a grazing wound,” Atlanta police Capt. Barry Shaw said.

The driver hit the gas as the assailants continued shooting, but didn’t get far, Shaw said. The car crashed into a fire hydrant before police and an ambulance arrived.
