Police are searching a Rockdale County neighborhood for a man who they say committed a robbery and shooting at a grocery store Monday morning.

Police said the store manager of the Fred’s Store on Sigman Road was attacked just before noon. They said the manager was leaving the store with cash to make a bank deposit when he was robbed and shot in the leg. The victim was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect ran from the scene, police said. Channel 2’s Mark Winne reported K-9 units combing the Northside Village neighborhood near Sigman Road in Conyers. Across the street from the grocery store, Conyers Middle School was also locked down, according to authorities.

News Chopper 2 showed a large crime scene in the parking lot of the strip mall and evidence markers just outside the store’s front entrance.
