A man who led police on a chase through southwest Atlanta on Monday tried to throw authorities off by changing into woman’s shirt, police said.The incident began when the suspect ran a stop sign, police told Channel 2’s Ryan Young.Police said a woman, believed to be a prostitute, jumped out of the vehicle, at which point the suspect tried to ram two police cars, investigators said.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran into a wooded area on Troy Street, off Joseph E. Boone Boulevard.

News Chopper 2 flew over the area as officers ran through a field of weeds in search of the suspect. An Atlanta police helicopter was also seen circling over the area.

Just before 1 p.m., police received a tip about a strange man running through a backyard and trying to change into a woman’s shirt. He was later arrested.

Police have not released the name of the suspect. The officers were not injured in the ordeal.
