BOAZ, Ala. — Boaz Police Chief Terry Davis says a man wanted in Georgia on charges involving sex crimes against children was arrested and turned over to authorities in Polk County, Ga.

Davis says 28-year-old Samuel Scott Haney of Aragon, Ga., was arrested at a restaurant on U.S. Highway 431 in Boaz on Saturday after officers received information about the charges and Haney’s whereabouts.

The chief says Haney had warrants in Georgia for child molestation, statutory rape, sodomy, enticing a child for indecent purposes and other charges. He says Haney was arrested without incident and signed a waiver of extradition.

Authorities say Haney remained in the Polk County jail on Tuesday awaiting a hearing.
