CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A teen and his grandmother were displaced after a fire consumed their Riverdale home on Thursday.

It was the second reported fire at the home on Soapstone Lane within 10 hours, firefighters said.Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh went to the destroyed home, where windows were already boarded up from Wednesday’s fire.

Seventeen-year-old Timmy Doan lived at the home with his grandmother. He said he was home alone when the first fire started at about 7:30 p.m. He said he ran outside and called 911.Clayton County Fire Battalion Chief Jeff Thomas said firefighters extinguished the fire, but they were back the next day.

At 5:30 a.m., a second fire consumed the home when no one was home, firefighters said. Neighbor Juaney Lynn-Rigsby said she watched the fire attack the home of her neighbor of 18 years.”I came out and the other side of the building was engulfed,”

Lynn-Rigsby said.Doan returned to see the destruction and to get his grandmother’s dog Lucky.”We can’t do nothing to the house now,” Doan said.Firefighters said they were investigating the incidents.
