The Gwinnett County School Board unanimously approved a controversial redistricting plan Thursday night.

The superintendent’s plan to alleviate overcrowding will shuffle about 500 students from the Peachtree Ridge High School cluster to the Duluth cluster.

Parents had mixed feelings about the outcome.

“She’s got friends. We have worked with the counselors at the school to get her in a class that does well for her and I’d like to be able to continue those relationships,” one parent said.

Parents were asked for their opinions at public meetings and in 1,400 input forms that were returned to school officials. School officials told Channel 2’s Kerry Kavanaugh that about 1,000 of the returned forms were against the changes.

The changes take effect next school year.
