The Telegraph newspaper in Macon reported that Dr. Kathy Mansfield pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud. The Georgia attorney general’s office said Mansfield was administering a single-dose drug to a child and then using what was left for a second child. The state said she then billed Medicaid as if she’d used a second vial.
The attorney general’s office said in a statement that Mansfield also reported that she was using large vials but was actually using smaller, cheaper vials.
The alleged fraud occurred between 2003 and 2007.
Mansfield was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years of probation, restitution of $537,428, $10,000 in fines and investigative costs of $5,000.
