DUBLIN, Ga. — A Laurens County couple has been charged with the theft of air conditioning unit components from a church.
Laurens County sheriff’s Capt. Stan Wright said air conditioning components have been stolen from six churches in the county since Friday.
Wright said the churches are scattered throughout the county. He said authorities got a tip from a resident who saw a suspicious vehicle at White Springs Baptist Church off Ga. 19 near the Wheeler County line on Tuesday.
Chief Deputy Keith Golden said 38-year-old Clifford Foskey and 42-year-old Angela Foskey were being held at the county jail Wednesday. They are charged with only one of the thefts.
Deputies began special patrols targeting churches after the first few thefts were reported.
