The Georgia Department of Transportation says construction throughout the weekend will be the busiest schedule they’ve had to date so far this year in the Atlanta metro area.

Back-ups could be seen as early as late Friday night along Interstate 75.

GDOT crews will be working throughout the weekend on most of the major highways throughout the metro including I-20, I-75 and I-285.

Here is a list of where crews will be working throughout the weekend:

Clayton & Fulton counties, 6/17/11 to 6/20/11, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuously. I-75 NB, between MP 237 (Forest Parkway) and MP 241 (Cleveland Ave.), three right lanes; exit ramp to I-285 WB (exit 238B); and exit 239 all closed for resurfacing.

Clayton County, 6/17/11 to 6/20/11, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuously. I-285 EB, at MP 58, exit ramp to I-75 NB closed for resurfacing.

DeKalb County, 6/17/11 to 6/18/11, 9 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., continuous. I-20 EB & WB, at MP 73, on- ramp and off-ramp at Lithonia Industrial Boulevard closed for paving.

DeKalb County, 6/18/11 to 6/19/11, 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., daily. I-20 EB & WB, at MP 75, on-ramps at Turner Hill Rd. to I-20 EB and WB closed for paving.

Douglas County, 6/17/11 to 6/20/11, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., continuously. I-20 EB, at MP 45 (Thornton Rd.), one right lane closed for overlaying bridge deck.

Clayton County, 6/17/11 to 6/19/11, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., nightly. I-285 EB & WB, between MP 58 (I-75) and MP 59 (Clark Howell Hwy.), two left lanes (eastbound on 6/18 – 6/19); two right lanes (westbound on 6/17-6/18) closed for replacing splice bolts on bridge.

GDOT is urging drivers to plan ahead if they are going to be out and about traveling through the areas where working is going on.

GDOT said to plan for significant delays for all of these projects.
