WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced July 5 that Viking Range Corp. has agreed to pay a $450,000 civil penalty to resolve allegations that the company was aware of a defect involving its refrigerator door hinge support mechanisms that resulted in injuries to consumers yet failed to report the problem, as required by federal law (In the Matter of Viking Range Corporation, CPSC No. 11-C0005).
