ATHENS, Ga. — A prosecutor has dismissed assault charges against a driver accused of using his car to nudge a man and his 3-year-old son from a parking space. A police report says 32-year-old Richard Junkins of Athens was trying to park in a downtown space about noon on Sept. 18, the day of the Arkansas-Georgia football game.
The report says a 36-year-old man and his son were standing in the way, and Junkins inched into the space. A witness told police the car struck the man and that the child had fallen onto the hood of the car. Junkins was charged with aggravated assault. Assistant District Attorney Reed Newland said there were no injuries and the man who was struck did not want to press charges.
