ATLANTA — An Atlanta police officer was involved in a fatal shooting Thursday evening, police said.
The officer was conducting a traffic stop when the shooting happened, Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. Curtis Davenport said.
The shooting happened near Campbellton Road and Childress Drive.
Davenport said the officer was pursuing someone on foot, and an altercation took place between them.
“At some point, the officer drew his service weapon and fired at least one round fatally injuring the individual,” Davenport said.
