ATLANTA — Atlanta police are putting together a description of a man they said attacked a woman with a kitchen knife and sexually assaulted her.

The attack happened in Virginia Highland just before 9 p.m. Sunday on Rosedale Road in northeast Atlanta.Investigators told Channel 2 Action News reporter Ryan Young that the woman was outside her home when the perpetrator forced her back inside and sexually assaulted the victim.

Some residents living in Virginia Highland said they are nervous after the attack.“A woman got assaulted directly across the street from us,” said resident Summer Puckett.

“I usually feel like it’s a safe area. It’s a little scary,” said resident Tabitha Robinson.Last month, residents said they were on edge when detectives said a robbing crew shot and killed Charles Boyer outside his girlfriend’s Virginia Highland apartment.

Last week, police made three arrests in connection to Boyer’s slaying.
