Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed said he’s considering a possible takeover of the Atlanta Public School system.

Reed sat down with Channel 2’s Jovita Moore at his office Monday and spoke candidly about what he calls “the inaction of the school board.”

Reed told Moore that he met with state lawmakers last week asking them to consider options for a temporary takeover of the school board.

Reed says he’s hearing from people all across the community who say progress is not being made. Reed said the board is ignoring SACS.

“They’re moving on to other things as if the SACS issue is some side issue, when in fact it is the fundamental issue at the center of action,” said Reed.
