ATLANTA — Four Georgia prisons have been locked down for security reasons.

“The Wardens at four state prisons in Georgia made the decision at a local level,” Department of Corrections spokeswoman Peggy Chapman said in a statement. “The duration of the lockdown has not been determined.”

“Lockdown status consists of inmates being confined to their cells,” she added. “There will be no visitation, telephone calls or store calls until the lockdown has been lifted.”

It’s not clear which prisons have been locked down. No further details are yet available.
